Education Analytics

For school groups, diocese, districts and Ministries of Education

Global challenges, local contexts

Our vision is to turn data into meaningful information to enable better decisions – helping to improve outcomes and life chances for young people.  Education systems worldwide are faced with similar challenges and yet the response to these challenges must be differentiated by their situational context in systems, culture and policy.

Recent shifts in online engagement have redefined how organisations must understand attendance.  Improving student and staff wellbeing remains paramount – balanced with the continued rigour on improving academic outcomes and success for all.  These competing priorities are often made more complex by the operational challenges posed by quality teacher recruitment and retention, financial aid and budgeting and the ever increasing demands to be able to do more, with less.

This is why our Education Practice always starts with understanding the key questions that you need answers to, and working through how we collect, refine, describe and visualise the data to provide the answers in your local context.  Your data, your audience – solving your problems.

Our Education Analytics Practice

We have the education technology solutions and products for schools spanning:

  • identity and access management
  • data extraction and aggregation
  • visualisation and analytics
  • school communications and payments
  • parental engagement

More important than this – we have the right people and a deep understanding of education.  We pride ourselves in being at the forefront of school Governance and in the understanding of the needs of learners.  We are teachers and trainers, data managers, data strategy consultants, education data scientists and architects.

Whatever stage of the journey you are on, we are here to help you achieve your goals.

Azure Synapse Analytics

The Platform for Education Analytics

Headquartered in the UK, we have 20 years of experience in data orchestration moving data on 8m students across 20k schools every day.

Our technology is closely aligned with Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Power Platform, Synapse Analytics and now the Open Education Analytics framework.  We have been accredited as one of the first OEA Advanced Partners worldwide.

We can scale a solution with you.  The platform is designed to support any customer from a small international school group with a single SIS to an Education Ministry that is looking to host and integrate multiple internal custom and/or 3rd party systems.

Predictive Analytics and Ethics

We work in partnership with the education AI industry to ensure our approach to education analytics is ‘ethical-by-design’.  Our projects include predictive safeguarding models in the UK, where our approach was case studied by the Institute for Ethical AI in Education and our practitioners invited to the launch panel of the final report.

In particular we help you understand the ethical implications of transparency, privacy, equity, informed participation and in all areas the importance of retaining human agency.  We use machine learning and AI for understandable decision support and guidance – not for black box answers and automation.

What could this look like for you?

In the UK – Award winning ‘Assembly’ Data Analytics

In the UK, we work with more than 50 school groups representing over 700 schools.   An ‘off-the-shelf’ analytics product ‘Assembly Pro’ is used to extract data from multiple student information systems and join this data in a data warehouse on a daily basis.

Schools and groups then use the Power BI visualisations to understand trends across attendance, behaviour and conduct, exclusions and expulsions, safeguarding, and many other characteristics.  Targeted views are provided to relevant stakeholders so that educators see the right information at the right time to help plan interventions and make better decisions.

With our network of established partners, additional 3rd party data is being added all the time to understand and provide access to contextualised data for assessment, wellbeing, HR and finance.

The US – A diocesan view

Catholic schools have for many years faced the challenge of falling enrolments.  Diocese in the US benefit from aggregating real time information on admissions and enrolments and trends over time in order to inform decision making. By leveraging our ‘Assembly Pro’ analytics framework we integrated common admissions and enrolments, SIS and financial aid platforms.  This will enable diocese to understand the impact of the financial aid arrangements and better target funding to drive increases in admissions and safeguard retention.
